Advocacy 101 - Foundations

8:00 am - 12:00 pm EST (pending 3.75 contact hours)

This introductory course equips nurses with foundational advocacy skills to influence health policy, improve patient outcomes, and advance the nursing profession. Participants will learn key principles of advocacy, effective communication strategies, and practical steps to engage with legislators, professional organizations, and community stakeholders. Designed for nurses new to advocacy, this training emphasizes real-world applications and empowers participants to become confident voices for change.

Advocacy 201 - Applied Advocacy

12:30 pm - 4:30 pm EST (pending 3.75 contact hours)

This advanced course moves beyond foundational principles to focus on practical application of advocacy strategies. Participants will learn how to interpret legislative updates, leverage nursing workforce data, and apply implementation science to influence policy and organizational decisions. Through interactive case studies—such as the evaluation of relief nursing mandates—nurses will practice advanced communication and leadership techniques to drive systemic change. The course concludes with reflective planning to help participants define their next steps as effective nursing advocates.

This activity has been submitted to Georgia Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. Georgia Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
